Our Story
A family Idea. A community of changemakers.
NOCO RISE began on a family car ride to Nebraska. As we drove, we started talking about ways we could give back to the city we love and volunteer in our community. That conversation sparked an idea: What if we brought families together to serve—and gave kids the opportunity to take the lead?
Founded by the McKnight family-Kristen, Alex, Henry, Teddy, Beau, and Caroline- NOCO RISE brings young people and families together to serve Northern Colorado. We wanted to create opportunities for kids to experience the joy of helping others and take ownership of meaningful projects. We hope they’ll see firsthand the difference their actions can make.
Through twice-monthly meetings and service projects, kids help choose causes and take on leadership roles with families serving alongside them. Projects might include caring for trails or collecting supplies for local nonprofits. Each experience gives families a chance to connect while helping their neighbors.
Our hope is to build more than a habit of volunteering. We want kids to grow in confidence and practice kindness. We want them to recognize that they have something valuable to offer their community at every age.
We believe no act of service is too small. By showing up for others and working together we can build stronger connections and a more caring Northern Colorado.
Where We Make a Difference
Youth Leading. Families serving. Community partnership growing.
Supporting People & Animals
We support neighbors in need and local animal organizations though donation drives, comfort kits, and hands-on service. Youth project ambassadors help organize efforts and encourage others to participate. Working with non-profit partners helps kids understand who they’re helping and why their contributions matter.
Caring for Our Environment
We care for Northern Colorado through trail cleanups and projects that protect parks and open spaces. Young people help plan activities and guide volunteers through age appropriate tasks. Relationships with local organizations give kids opportunities to learn from people who care for these places everyday.
Strengthening Our Community
We bring families and non-profits together to turn kids’ ideas into meaningful service. Youth can serve as project ambassadors or take on president, secretary, and treasurer roles with adult guidance. All roles have age requirements and term limits. Through these experiences, kids build confidence and lasting relationships while learning how to lead and give back.
